Potter

I think Tim Carlburg might actually be a hero…not in the comic book kind of way but in a real kind of way.  Every time I mention his name or hear a story about him this whole hero theory becomes more believable.  So there he was, following a career in the Army riding his motorcycle down a little country road in rural Montana when he spotted it- a local craftsman and potters studio.  He introduced himself and spoke of some prior experience and a desire to learn more.  Several months later was offered to apprentice and the rest is history.  Tim is known in the pottery world for making some of the nicest beer growlers you can find.  Actually, all of Tim's work is top-notch.  His focus on detail and process is inspiring.  What I loved about our time together though was learning about his motivation as an artist, his commitment to the greater community of artists, and how he uses ceramic to help us think about how we interact with the world.
